Hello, and welcome to our GeekFest site. For those not in the know, GeekFest is another name for a LAN Party. The basic idea is that a group of friends get together for a day or a whole weekend, bringing their computers to one location, and then they play computer games together.
In the 'old days' we, a bunch of geeks, spent the first night and sometimes the next morning "geeking." That is getting our computers working and networking compatible or even, in the thin wire ethernet days, locating terminators and crimping new connectors. So we coined the phrase GeekFest before the term LAN Party came along.
GeekFests are always a lot of fun, and we've had quite a few of them over the years. This site is meant to document our escapades, so we can reminisce over old times.
We wish we had more pictures from the original 'Fest to show the changes in technology. Originally there were fewer players and we all have 14" to 16" monitors, this moved onto 17" to 21" monitors and stategic power cords were needed. Things thankfully are turning again as more of our number turn up with flat panels.
